Jan Best, Head Professional at Mount Brenton Golf Course. Originally from Germany, Jan and his family immigrated to Canada in the 1990s and have resided in the Cowichan Valley ever since. He received his CPGA certification in 2008, shortly after finishing a bachelor’s degree in Political Science/Biology from Vancouver Island University in 2006. Jan was a student member at Mount Brenton throughout university and familiarized himself with the golf course and many of its long-standing members. After gaining valuable experience in the industry – he completed his professional golf business management certification through the PGA of Canada and is Coach Canada certified – Jan became head professional at Mount Brenton in 2017. He is thankful for having a great employer and fantastic staff whose combined efforts facilitate their busy first-tee operations year-round.
