April 24 has come and gone.
That was the deadline for submitting nomination forms for the 2025 board of director positions. There were five openings, and we received five self-nominations. The five successful applicants. Tom Andrews, Mike Dungey, and Peter Collum are current board members. Our new members are Sue Menzies and Chris Fritsch.
Welcome aboard.
Thanks to the retiring board members Bruce Dussault and Gregory Brennan for their hard work. Leigh Bennett, Steve Smith, Chris Hennessey, Larry Kydd, and Kirk Bellamy are the other board members. The AGM will be held on May 29 at the Chemainus Legion on Chemainus Road.
The meeting starts at 7 pm, but we ask attendees to arrive around 6:30 to be checked in and receive and fill in their draw prize slips for 10, $50 pro shop gift cards. The 10%-member discount does not apply to these cards.
Thanks in advance to Kath Burnell and Laurie Taylor for volunteering to check members into the meeting. The board has added a new wrinkle to assist members who cannot attend the AGM.
If you cannot attend the AGM but have a question for the board, please fill out this form and send it in . All questions will be answered by email; some may be brought before the meeting.
The agenda, president’s and auditor’s reports, and 2025 Strategic Plan will be available on May 8.
Please keep in mind…
The board of directors wants our AGM to have a welcoming atmosphere for members to come, find out how the course is doing and discuss issues of importance to them respectfully and civilly.
Any member may come to the front of the assembly, state their name, and be allowed one question with a follow-up.
Should that member have further questions on differing topics, they must wait until other members ask a question.
The board is elected to make decisions for the benefit of all members

The Golf Course
Mount Brenton Golf Course opened in 1948, and celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2023, the par 71/73 course, Vancouver Island’s Hidden Gem, is located in the scenic, historic town of Chemainus, Canada’s Mural Capital. With shaded fairways flanked by towering firs, the course also features willow, hemlock, maple, scotch, ponderosa pine, sequoia, cedar, dogwood, and giant cottonwood. The course is challenging for every level of golfer, there are plenty of creeks to hurdle and ponds to circumvent. Maintained by an excellent grounds crew the fairways are lush, the greens are true and tricky and the sand is deep. An extensive drainage system also makes Mount Brenton one of the most playable golf courses year-round on Vancouver Island. Book a tee time today and come and see for yourself.
